In 1953, the Mallorcan Rafael Roig, the founder of Empresas Roig, took his first steps into the world of transport by buying a Citroën B10. He used the car as a taxi in the Cala D'Or area. At the time, his customers were the few people living in the area along with a few tourists (there was just one hotel, the Cala D'Or, that had ten rooms) that were beginning to come. Rafael often passed by the hotel, or sometimes hotel staff sent him notes at home when there were passengers to transport (he sometimes only made a trip once every 15 days)

In 1961 he bought a 36 seat Nazar bus. In 67 he bought a 7 seat CX family car. The business continued its forward march and the arriving English and German tourists pushed him to start a car rental business in the mid-sixties. So he bought three Six-hundreds, which served the company for more than four years.
By 1982 the company had more than 80 rental cars, and it was necessary to set up a computer system to help manage the business. Currently, Empresas Roig has a rental car business, Autos Roig (800 cars); a bus company, Roig Bus (50 buses); a taxi company (8 vehicles); a travel agency and an insurance company, and most importantly, 200 employees ready to give the customer first-class service.
